hey, y'all!
i'm here to tell you about small press expo, mostly, but first i hope you'll indulge a little rambling, because in between the last time i wrote to you and now, i've moved to a new city.
so i'm writing this from my new apartment in baltimore. it has giant windows with old-timey shutters that don't quite open or close all the way and a windowsill big enough for me to sit on while i'm sewing. it's the first time i've lived alone & had a space that was entirely mine to do whatever i want with (within the bounds of my lease, because, uh, obviously i'm renting, so i can't do any wild alterations), and even though i miss new york somethin fierce, it feels really good to have a home to myself.
if you know anything at all about my work, you probably know i have a lot of really complicated thoughts about the nature of houses and homes. i've rarely in my life had any space that really felt like a home — all my houses and apartments have been haunted by something or other. i'm excited to have someplace i can make feel like a home myself! it feels good! i'm gonna put up halloween decorations today!
