Farai’s Codelab Newsletter

Oh right, I've got a newsletter

Happy New Year!

I hope you all had a great holiday season and are ready to take on 2022. I kind of am.

Anyways, I forgot that I had a newsletter and neglected to maintain it. Honestly, I’m not sure what to include here. I guess I’ll link to things I worked on that month.

In that case, this is what I worked on this month.

YouTube x RSS is live, another website redesign, trying to be a guest author and Delays

I hope y’all had a great week. Mine was unusually productive. It’s not perfect, but I hope that this is the least productive normal week I have going out. This week:

  • YouTube x RSS is live and it’s functional though the code which got me there is atrotious. I hope to fix it up this coming week.

Browsers UI Refreshes, Projects and Writing

I hope you had a great week. This week, I pre wrote a couple of posts which have to do with dark mode. The first is out next week and the other next month. I should start releasing posts early as a Patreon perk.

Firefox 89’s Proton

I got the much anticipated Firefox Proton UI update and while I love the modern look, I just can’t with the tabs that have such low contrast.

This Is The Codelab Newsletter Again

Hey,

I haven’t posted in a month since I didn’t think of posting here. I’m fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and I’m ready to look for jobs again! Here’s my resume [PDF: 200KB].

is back online and it has dark mode! I tried to implement dark mode lazily but I eventually did it properly. Expect a post which touches on that in two weeks. I’m also moving in . I’m taking my time since there are some rudiments I want to implement (images and footnotes) which need me to heavily edit the old posts.

Working On An Image Uploader, Auto-Scheduling Hugo Posts in GitHub Actions and Merging Site

Hi there, hope you had a great week.

For me, I tried to make an image uploader. It worked decently but I realized I couldn’t assign a dragged file as a file input. I’ll need to think about how more carefully.

I also set my blog up so that it can autopublish posts. It works by

#4 I'm Back

I said I would be stepping back last week. I lied, I’m back now. It’s as if nothing happened.

This week, I brought my personal website back online and I plan on writing 100 blog posts in 100 days. I’ve written 5-ish posts ahead of publishing but I have more drafts in the pipeline. Besides that, I also started working on YouTube x RSS which is a tool that extracts RSS feeds from YouTube. The library is finished and I just need to make the front end. After that, I plan on adding a feed export feature. I could do mass import too but that would be really expensive.

I Don't Plan On Publishing Content For Some Time

Hi there,

This newsletter is early, but I wanted to let you know that I won’t be posting content for a while. I’m very disorganized right and I need to make a clear plan on the things I want to do.

I don’t know when I’ll be back, but I will be with a bang💥.

My GIF post is coming soon. All it needs is a lot of proofreading.

#TransRightsAreHumanRights, Vaccines, My Dog, Working on My Site and Creating Animated Images

Hope you had a great week! Where I am it’s Independence Day 🇿🇼 and things are starting to get chilly 🥶. Not like the Midwest I lived in, but still. This week, I’ll say trans rights, talk about my dog, COVID vaccine, a cool video I watched, the work I did on my site and a post I’m working on.

Trans Rights Are Human Rights

Against my better judgement, I’ve been peeking at American news. From that, I’m really worried about the lives of trans people. Seemingly out of nowhere, there are numerous bills that seem to try to drive trans women out of civic life with invasive, draconian laws.

I won’t go into a lot of detail on this, but I’m really disheartened at the level of ignorance and vitriol leveled against such a small population. Scary thing is, I’m worried this will grow further and further. Not just in America and the UK, but around the world.
