Hi! It been a while. Last time was in the middle of 2019, just after a friend had died. The year following that was not much better, the plague era where we're asked to remain indoors and my dad death in the end of August. These two years haunt me.
Creativity has been scarce, I sort of burned out making things up in RPGs and a nerve pinch makes the arm a bit tingly at times. Occasionally I've tried to find people from a web past — and a few I've managed to keep in touch with or followed on twitter for a while — it's like nostalgia is punching me in the face and I'm not that keen on nostalgia to begin with. I can't help but feel that the centralization that came from the tumblr bubble uprooted a lot of us and it wasn't obvious in how severe until the bubble imploded. It's like a whole ecosystem collapsed.
All of it made me realise just how much I miss photography and friends. I mean, I can always take walk and do landscape photography. There's plenty of forests around. But that's not really the same as capturing people. Anyway, here's some photos from my town.
Drawing cats are easier than dogs. I don't know why but it is fact.
) Not actually a fact.
Pre-Carly Rae Jepsen's excellent Emotion — best album 2015 if yo ask me — I would have scoffed at the thought that Taylor Swift would have made the best music of the year. And this is despite that the super-catchy Shake It Off came the year before. We can all be wrong, sometimes several times a day. But seriously. This Is Me Trying wreaks me in the best of ways. And I will be the first to admit, this year has been me both avoiding music as well as just diving head-first into the sadder parts of it.
I tried that insult-your-musical-taste-A.I. thingamabob and it asked "I see you've been listening quite a lot to William Elliott Whitmore. Are you okay?" and that was a very fair drag.
Thank you for reading and I hope it finds you in... a health I suppose. I do hope it was a good one though. Outside of this, there's always bluesky or the links to all things Internets (including art commission info).
