Weekly Recommendation: "Perfekte Welle" by Juli
Hey there!
Here’s your weekly German media recommendation from Monoglot Anxiety — and for the month of August, every recommendation comes with a special "Clemens Seal of Approval" from my partner. It's a bit like a newsletter takeover... except he's too lazy to write anything so it's still me writing this thing at the end of the day.
This week's Clemens Seal of Approval recommendation is for the song "Perfekte Welle" by the German pop group Juli.
But first, a quick note from me:
I'm still, and always, looking for folks to write guest posts for the blog. If you're interested in sharing your language journey, just shoot me an email!
"Perfekte Welle" by Juli
"Sehr teenie, aber geil" is how Clemens describes this song — "very teenagerish, but cool" — and that sums it up. Listening to Juli may be a bit like traveling back in time to your angstiest teen years, but it is awesome. Beyond being a great song to scream along to in the shower, "Perfekte Welle" is notable as a sort of anthem for German-language pop in general and lent its name to a number of German pop anthologies.

If you like music that's a bit poppy (and maybe a bit teenie), check out my earlier recommendation for Zurück in die Zukunft by LaFee. It's an 80s throwback album of German covers by the former teen start LaFee. Clemens hates this album, though... so don't blame this recommendation on him!

That wraps up the August recommendations "takeover," so you'll be seeing recommendations coming purely from yours truly starting next week.
