Weekly Recommendation: Coldmirror
Hey there!
Here’s your weekly German media recommendation from Monoglot Anxiety. This week's recommendaiton is for the YouTube channel Coldmirror.
But first, a quick note from me:
I really get seeing over-sensationalized language learning stories from folks whose learning strategies seem far removed from what could possibly be carried out by a normal human being with idk a family and/or a job. Or even idk a pet hamster to take care of every once and a while.
If you ever feel the same, I hope that some of the guest posts folks have contributed to the "Real Language Stories" steries on my blog might be an antidote for you.
So far, three people have shared their honest, real experiences learning their first foreign languages. Check out their posts! And if you want to share your own language learning story, just shoot me an email.
That's all from me!
Coldmirror
I once saw a German teenager on Twitter describe Coldmirror as a "first(?) gen" YouTube channel that has been online longer than pretty much anyone else and I think that's a good place to start with trying to describe the channel. Always funny, never predictable, Coldmirror has been going basically since German YouTube was a thing and offers diverse comedic content that skews nerdy and absurd. I personally really enjoy Coldmirror's "5 Minuten Harry Podcast," in which she verbally (and comedically) summarizes 5 minute chunks of the Harry Potter films from beginning to end.

If you like Coldmirror, you'll probably also like Transistor — another nerdy, funny YouTube channel that's hard to describe.
