this is an effort to maintain connections to people i care about, or who care about me (hopefully both at the same time!!) while avoiding big social media companies
why am i trying to maintain connections to people i care about, or who care about me (hopefully both at the same time!!) while avoiding big social media companies? great question! it really comes down to this- i don't like using big social media platforms all that much, for a variety of reasons (feel free to ask or wait until i inevitably write something about it!). however, they're pretty well integrated into our daily lives, and a lot of relationship building and maintaining happens on those platforms. i don't want to miss out on those relationships! i'm picking this avenue because everyone i know uses email regularly, so no one has to go out of their way to find these words, and they'll be easy to respond to (just reply to the email)!
i'm using a service called buttondown. it's a platform for sending out small newsletters. simple as that!
i'm not positive! knowing myself as i do, it'll probably be a collection of brief thoughts on a variety of things: how i'm spending my time, what existential threat is stressing me out that week, an article i read about, i dunno, elephants' relationships to magnetic fields or something like that. i have historically written pretty concisely, and i'm hoping that these dispatches will serve as fodder for ongoing conversations. i'm not trying to put everything i think in them. also, maybe some photos, maybe some images, maybe some experiments. i'm just trying to live my life, man.
don't hold your breath
