Dear Mojeek community,
Today we have launched a brand new space that we’d like to invite you to.
The Mojeek community is a place where you can actively engage with the development of the world’s alternative search engine. We welcome you to directly ask the team questions, suggest functionality, engage with other users, and discuss your challenges in searching for information on the open internet.
Without our own community we rely on 1-2-1 communication by email and on mainstream networks such as Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. These social networks are not really built for group communication and networking and they all have policies which do not fit with our values.
We have created this new space using Discourse, which is an open source Internet forum software application. You can sign up to the community with social sign-on or by email. The former for the convenience that some of you may prefer. For privacy from the Big Tech you can use email, which we will only use for community communications with you. If you are seeking total privacy you can use a burner email address. Just as with Mojeek search we do not keep any information that can identify you, such as your IP address.
A big number of you have asked how you can help us; one way you can do so is by joining this community and by writing or responding to a post. We look forward to seeing you there.
2021 was a big year for us as we reached some considerable milestones, added new functionality, and joined many others in calling for better business practices and fairness in digital markets. We recently summarised what we’ve been up to, as well as product developments and milestones from 2021 on our blog.
Want to help us improve? Your feedback is an invaluable part of the process by which we tweak and test Mojeek in order to make sure it serves you the most relevant results possible. On the Search Engine Results Page we have a Feedback button (right at the bottom) that you can push in order to tell us if the results were good, bad, or somewhere in between; so why not undertake a search today and provide us with some useful feedback?
