stuff i'm into right now: apr 28th

you've escaped

This wasn't in your inbox at like 5am this week and you thought I forgot huh? Well, you're right. A lot has been going on which I will get into next week. Anyways, here we go!

I had a brief 24 hour stomach bug in the past week and I spent a lot of that sad sick time on my couch watching YouTube doucmentaries about Frank Lloyd Wright whose work I have long been fascinated with. I especially took a deep dive into learning about what might be my favorite FLW creation: the Hanna Honeycomb House located on the Stanford University campus, originally the home of professors Paul and Jean Hanna. The house's hexagonal design is stunning and the thoughtfulness of the functionality and aesthetic of the home is such a treat. I especially loved the Stanford online exhibit of the house and the clients' report that Paul and Jean wrote about working with Frank Lloyd Wright and developing the plan for the house and what it was like living and adapting and growing with the house and their family. Wonderful stuff! I've always loved Frank Lloyd Wright's work and especially the fact that when you had him design your house, he didn't just design the house but the furniture and art and even once the lady of the house's dress for the new home—extra and immersive as an experience in the way I love.

I just ordered key lime juice so I can make a dang key lime pie because I love to eat it (well year-round) but especially when it gets warm and sunny here in this northern country I moved to for healthcare and love. Anyways, that's a whole schpiel to say that you should listen to the key lime pie episode of the Fat Guy Jacked Guy podcast. Yes, it's about my favorite dessert and pie of all time but it's also about Florida and queerness and the wild wonderfulness of the magical place that shaped me and so many cool people I love. It's a tender, thoughtful, hilarious planning period that sums up what FGJG is: the beauty and magic that happens when curiosity and wonder meet the ease of talking and sharing with someone you love. It's so good. YE is ending as of August 31st and if you want to put your money somewhere else that's creating cool shit, I suggest becoming a brother of these two goofballs.

I can't believe I've never talked about Mike's Mic here considering I am a full fledged disciple of his teachings. I don't even know how to explain it besides that Michael Messineo is a 26-year-old Australian YouTuber who is possibly the funniest person I've ever encountered while riffing on pop culture. Like, his videos about recapping what happens in the Twilight films (as well as other teen films of that nature) has literally made me laugh so hard I got a stitch in my side. A three-part, multi-hour recap of the entire Pretty Little Liars cinematic universe?? Got you. Maybe you need a ranking of the Dance Moms cast as well as a recap of the characters of Glee as WELL as photos of Dr. Phil as WELL as 134 shades of blue?? Got you!!! Even when I don't necessarily know or care about the topic at hand (see: the Chipmunks movies which has a line (you will know when you hear it) that made me laugh harder than I ever have in my entire life). You may think "she's really overselling this guy" but I assure you, I am not. Sit back and enjoy some truly incredible and ridiculous pop culture commentary.

Here is a pic of Grace Jones shoving cake into Divine’s mouth at what I believe was Grace’s 30th birthday party—you’re welcome! It’s like “The Creation of Adam” but relevant to my interests.
