The Omnific w/ Introspect & Clayhands [Post Rock / Djent / Prog Metal]
Date: Friday, 29 April 2022 At 19:30 | Location: The Metro Theatre (Metro Social), Sydney | Event Archive
This was a night of such diverse moods, sounds, and energy. The venue is a new addition to the Metro. Super open and spacious. You can be as intimate or away from the artists as you'd like. The stage is very intimate and the vibes are a cool mix between industrial and minimal.
Clayhands
First up was Clayhands. I've seen them before and every time they are so present in their music. There were some contemplative tracks and sounds finished by a build up of sounds and instruments. I've always been impressed by consistency of the drummer, Heather. The band just so in tune with each other that it's heartwarming.
Introspect
Switching it up was Introspect. I wasn't super familiar with their music but was impressed with their energy. The guitar work was very impressive and the duality of the male scream and female vocals worked quite well. The light show made it super enjoyable too 😎. See the photos below to see what I mean.
The Omnific
This three piece band was a brilliant headline. They gave such a memorable show. The band consists of two very talented bass players and an outstanding drummer. The banter between the band in between sets was so sweet. It was very hard not to move and shake your body to the groove Omnific produced. Seeing the guitarists handwork up close was a real treat and highlight for me. A near perfect live gig which I know the band must have practised day and night for. The running joke in the gig was how many switches of bass guitars occurred throughout sets. It was at least 5-10 times!
All in all, heaps of diverse musical talent in this gig. Really keen to see more bands at the Metro Social. I definitely left the gig much more energised and pumped.
