Margaret's March Nearly Monthly News!
The Nearly Monthly News Marches on with the last edition we'll see before the next total solar eclipse passes over the United States. What does that mean for our humble newsletter? Absolutely nothing!
On to the news:
From My Desk
Most of this month has been taken up writing for the show I still can't talk about publicly. This doesn't make for a very exciting announcement, but at least it keeps me occupied.
What I'm Reading and Watching
I continued my exploration of the works of Daniel Pinkwater this month with The Neddiad: How Neddie Took the Train, Went to Hollywood, and Saved Civilization. A tall order, to be sure, but since the book came out a while ago, I trust it's not a spoiler to say that everything turns out okay.
As a Los Angeles resident, the book was a fun window into how things have changed (or not) since the days of the old studios and the Super Chief. Like Neddie, I recommend visiting the La Brea Tar Pits if you're ever visiting our fair city. (They're pits of tar!)
I saw more movies this month, and the big one of course was Dune, Part 2. (Dubbed Dune 2: Even Dune-ier, by friend of the NMN, Alasdair Stewart.) If you saw and liked Part 1, Part 2 has even more of things you probably enjoyed. (Sand worms! Creepy Space Witches! Zendaya!) If Dune 1 wasn't your cup of tea, it may not be worth the collectable popcorn bucket.
From the Cutting Room Floor of the Duolingo Dystopia
This month, a drama in four acts.
First:
But then, a reversal...
Things escalate in Act 3.
Not helpful, Eddy! This can lead to only one conclusion:
Yeah, I think we all saw that coming.
And That's the Nearly Monthly News!
Comments? Questions? Drop me a line! Wishing clear skies for eclipse-watchers everywhere, and assuming this phenomenon is merely the result of orbital mechanics and not a herald of the end times, I'll see you next month!
