From Sloane, With Love #3
Welina dear subscribers!
I’ve been bad about keeping this updated and you can see my last email was the day of my book release whiiiiich kind of killed me? It went great, don’t get me wrong, but the psychic release of having the book I’d been working on since 2016 was a lot. Add in tons of virtual promo and that’s me, burned out.
So, updates!
First, you can see I’m using a new email platform. You can Google the problems with substack but you are all transferred over to my newletter, no need to re-up.
Second… Well not much I can share officially! But I’ll give a vague rundown of projects coming out soon or that I’m working on:
-
A horrific collaboration with my friend Anna Bow. This project is finished and will debut this year! We’re also working on a second graphic novel project I’m thrilled about that’s romantic horror in colonial America.
-
I wrote a novel during the pandemic lol. I finished revisions in March and its going on submission this summer! The comps I’ve managed to come up with: Xenogenesis meets A Memory Called Empire–with mechs and martial arts!
-
I started another novel! A weird tropical western I’m hoping to finish this year. Here’s two of many main characters
-
Have you been wondering about Leslie and I’s podcast, Salt & Honey Pod? Well, we’re experimenting with livestreams now! You can watch our shows on our youtube channel! We wanted a change of pace and I’ve been enjoying both chatting with people as we stream and seeing Leslie’s face as we talk lo

I’m so excited to say… I’m writing for REALM with a team of stellar writers on a new serialized fiction series called ECHO PARK 2060. There’s clones, cults, murders, a sticky LA summer and I’m stoked with the story. You can look forward to reading it here at the end of the year!
-
A comic anthology I edited came out this week! The Night Marchers and Other Oceanian Tales, edited by me, Kate Ashwin and Kel McDonald. It was such a thrill to be able to find cartoonists all over the Pacific to contribute and tell their own stories. [You can grab the book anywhere you order books!]https://bookshop.org/books/the-night-marchers-and-other-oceanian-tales/9781945820793
And that’s about all I can share for now! I have about six or so other projects on submission or in process of being created and I’m just…having a blast. Can’t wait for real work to start again and I can regret putting so many irons in the fire last year because I was quaratine-insane LOL. Also, I think I’m going to start using this place as a tweet-thread repository? Maybe make essays out of my half-baked twitter thoughts.
Anyway, stay safe out there!
