Regular Reveries 27: Mastery with SQL, The Inner Citadel, The Imperial Model, and Half-assing it with Everything You've Got
I've started going through Mastery With SQL recently, since I want to improve in that area and cover the blind spots. It's probably the best online course that I've taken and it made me wonder what else have I missed.
So, if you have a course that you would recommend, please let me know.
This week's article
For this week, I've published a summary of "The Inner Citadel", a book that analyses one of the most influential Stoic philosophers, Marcus Aurelius, and his famous journals, "Meditations".

I've really enjoyed reading this thorough analysis of The Imperial Model, which predicts the death rate from COVID-19.
"One hallmark of science is independent verifiability. Without others being able to verify the claims and run the model themselves, it is not science; it is pseudo-science with a strong appeal to authority."

Something to think about
"Instead of being a perfectionist about the paper, be a perfectionist about writing the paper. Be a perfectionist about identifying good strategies, about abandoning sunk costs, about killing your darlings, about noticing when you're done. Be a perfectionist about wasting no attention. Be a perfectionist about learning from your mistakes. Perfectionism can be a powerful tool, but there's no need to point it at overachieving on metrics you don't care about."
