No. 4: More snails! π
Hello, fellow citizens of the Internet,
This past week was another week that felt slow on the public Roam project side of things.
But one thing I'm noticing is that keeping a public daily project like this feels slow on the inside (and probably even looks slow on the outside), but I'm making so much progress in a way that feels incredibly ease-full.
I started a new public-writing project for essays on humanity, creativity, and people-first growth
- I haven't written articles and essays in a really long time (but I have so much I want to write about that doesn't necessarily fit in my next book!).
- Instead of creating a blog, I decided this was a better option for my creative workflow.
- My first essay is Where the Weirdos Roam, which is going to be polished up as an entry in Find Your Weirdos next week
- As a sidenote, I've been thinking a lot lately about tools, and how I've given up on "one tool to rule them all" (or even "one website to rule them all.") I enjoy specific tools and specific websites for specific things. It gets chaotic for other people maybe? But it's my happy place.
- And I can always link to everything I'm doing in one place.

I started chapter 2 of People-First Growth
- It's really, really rough, which is a bit painful to share, but such is the way of creating out loud
- Read a rough start to chapter 2: You, the Gardener
- Read chapter 1: A people-first approach to growth
- Or start from the beginning: Why I'm writing this book

We are in the thick of weirdos season!
- If you've been following along, here's the latest: Don't call it a veggie burger
- If you haven't checked it out yet, start with A field guide to finding your weirdos
- And if you want a dose of serious magic and haven't seen it yet, check out our new homepage introducing the season of the weirdo (especially magic in Chrome or Firefox on your desktop or laptop machine)

I started reading Nature and the Human Soul by Bill Plotkin
- As expected, it's blowing my mind
- Here are my notes so far
"Mature revelation demands mature people. Positive cultural change is the natural outcome of healthy individual development, because mature people vitalize culture through their individual and collective actions. Cultural health and individual health engender one another." βBill Plotkin

Here's what's next
- I'm still thinking about how to make my public Roam project more interesting to me and useful to other CEOs and leaders trying to grow in a people-first way, but this is also a pattern for me. I start something that's meant to be ease-full and a natural part of my rhythm, and I turn it into a whole production. So I'm officially striking that from my list, in the interest of letting it evolve naturally over time.
- ^ So maybe that's more of a "here's what's NOT next" update, but there you go
- I just started reading Demand-Side Sales by Bob Moesta, and so far, it brilliantly aligns with Gather the People, while also giving me another perspective that is well-informed and thoughtful. I will be sharing notes and thoughts soon.
That's it for now! Thanks for being here!
