We're back!
We're back in the swing of things here at R2 after our winter break. We've got a lot going on, which I can't wait to tell you about. But first I want to say thank you! to those who have become studio members and donated money. Just this week, we've used your money to pay a voice actor and to commission cover art for a new show we're developing (more on that in a few weeks). So if you're wondering whether your donation makes a difference--it does. You can become a member here! --Abby
The Green Tunnel is back! This week we released our newest Iconic Locations episode, about the very first monument to George Washington ever built, which happens to be along the AT trail route.
The Green Tunnel is also looking for podcast ambassadors! If you're a section hiker, a day hiker, or a thru-hiker, we want you to spread the GT love. In return, we'll send you swag and supplies! You can apply to be a Green Tunnel Ambassador here.
Consolation Prize is also coming back! Our first episode of Season 2B will be out in a few weeks. In the meantime, we're looking for your consuls! If you've run across a U.S. consul in your reading or research, we want to hear about that consul! You don't have to be a historian or an academic in order to tell us your story. Just go to our website, click on the "Send Voicemail" button on the right side of your screen, and leave us a message.
This week we're happy to see the return of Seizing Freedom for a second season! This week's episode is about the conflict between Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois (among others) about how to deal with the Jim Crow era of racial terror. Definitely worth a listen!
Speaking of Booker T. Washington, our next Consolation Prize episode is about a consul who got his job due in part to the advocacy of Washington. Before he became a consul, James Weldon Johnson was known as a songwriter, and we found a whole album of his songs. Here's a particularly delightful one!
