Happy Summer!
The team at R2 Studios hopes you have been enjoying some sunshine, rest, and of course . . . podcasts! We’ve been able to enjoy some relaxation ourselves, but for the most part, we’ve been really busy getting ready to bring you more high-quality audio.
While we can’t share with you the shows we have in the works quite yet, we did want to give you a bit of an update on what has been happening at R2 Studios.
Our show on the history of the Appalachian Trail, The Green Tunnel, wrapped its first season in April and the team is working diligently to create season two. Make sure you follow The Green Tunnel wherever you get your podcasts so you don’t miss our summer bonus episodes!
Perhaps even more important though, our inaugural show, Consolation Prize, released its final episodes.
Consolation Prize is truly the cornerstone of R2 Studios. It is the show where we learned not only how to make a podcast, but where we realized there is space for high-quality, narrative history podcasts. It is difficult to put into words what the show meant for everyone who played a role in it, so executive producer and host Abby Mullen put together an episode that captures it.
Listen to the Final Report Transmission, to hear from Abby and the folks who created Consolation Prize as they reflect on the show’s life.
In the Final Report Transmission, Abby also shared that she has concluded her time as our studio head and will be moving on to an amazing new opportunity!
Before she takes on the new role of “listener” (because we trust she will keep listening to our shows), we would like to say one final word of thanks to Abby: without you, R2 Studios would not exist. Thank you for paving the way for us to share high-quality audio with those who want to listen.
So, who will carry on Abby’s work at the helm?
We are pleased to introduce, Jeanette Patrick as the new head of R2 Studios!
Jeanette is a public historian who comes to us from the museum industry where she played a pivotal role in creating digital public history projects. Most recently she co-created and co-wrote a podcast miniseries entitled Intertwined: The Enslaved Community at George Washington’s Mount Vernon. Since joining R2 Studios in January, she has produced episodes of Consolation Prize and The Green Tunnel. Jeanette is very excited for the future of R2 Studios and the great shows we will continue to bring to you.
That’s all for now!
Until next time,
The R2 Studios Team
