Dangerous times (that are fun to hear about)
It's hard to believe it, but it's already December! R2 Studios has been officially up and running for 2 months, and we've been very busy. We can't wait to tell you more about some of the new projects in the works, and new people coming on board, but for that you'll have to wait for the new year.
In the meantime, I wanted to say thank you to all of you who gave on Giving Tuesday or at other times. Your support is so important for keeping our work going. If you haven't had a chance to give yet, you still can!
Both of our shows are talking danger in December. The Green Tunnel just released an episode all about the dangers you might face as you hike on the AT. None of the dangers should dissuade you from taking a hike, but exactly what to do if you happen upon one of them? Well, you'll have to listen to the episode.
Consolation Prize's next episode is also about danger. We're dipping into the true crime genre (a little bit) with a story about a murder on the high seas. So make sure you're following CP on your favorite podcast app so that you don't miss its release next week!
Here's what one listener had to say about The Green Tunnel on Apple Podcasts:
History lessons I didn’t know I needed
Wow! There is so much history behind the AT that I never even thought to think existed. This podcast not only let me know there was a wealth of knowledge I was missing out on, but then gives me that information! All in an engaging, delightful, and detailed storytelling voice. Highly recommend and can’t wait for more episodes!!
Thank you for this great review! If you have a minute, we'd really appreciate your review of our shows as well. You can leave either of our shows a review on Apple Podcasts, or if you're not an Apple user, you can review our shows on Podchaser (here's Consolation Prize and here's The Green Tunnel).
Abby has been listening to Radioactive, a limited-run series about Father Coughlin, a priest who rose to fame in the 1930s for a lot of reasons, including his antisemitism, his radio personality, and eventually his spectacular fall from grace. If you're into the history of the 1930s, or American religion, or even Nazis, this series is a good one to queue up!
Here's a little excerpt from our latest Green Tunnel episode, where Mills and episode producer Ashley Palazzo check out a snakebite kit that may or may not actually help you if you get bit by a snake.
For just a few dollars a month, you can help us make amazing audio stories. Your money goes to helping us make our space better, hiring voice actors, paying for music and archival tape, and so much more.
Plus, if you become a member, you could get a super cool tumbler or a cool t-shirt! There’s really no downside here.
And that’s it for this edition of “Good Tape!” Thanks for reading, and we’ll see you next time.
