What is the story behind your shop and brand logo? I really liked the memes with the little animals with knives and made my own characters inspired by them. The Trash gang name comes from the old weeaboo trash meme too.
What would your brand “elevator pitch” be? Basura Gang is an alternative fashion retailer that is inspired by Japanese mascot culture. We have our own cast of characters that are canonically plushies that come to life that are featured on our designs.
How has your brand evolved since its inception? Changing from being a mostly art and prints store to becoming an apparel and accessories shop.
What does a day in the studio look like for you? Most of my day is spent fulfilling orders. I’m pretty slow at packing because of my tendinitis, but when I am not packing I’m working on social media posts which is what takes up the second most amount of time. The actual designing is what I have the least amount of time to do now but I am working on getting more help to have more time to work on art!
What are your favourite materials to work with? I mostly work with digital but I love painting. My degree is in painting.
Who is your favourite designer with less than 5,000 followers that you feel others need to know about? @peanut.butter.pigs.
Who is your favourite designer with more than 500,000 followers that influences you? @valfre.
Where can people find you online? At website or basuragang on all social media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube).
