⧉ Truth and conspiracy
Welcome to the fortieth issue of OVERLAP ⧉
The truth
It’s the end of a long week. There’s value in doing things even when you don’t want to. But there’s also something to be said for taking a night off.
That’s my way of telling you that I’m not writing a “regular” newsletter this time. But you’ve already opened this email, so I’ll share one thing that came across my radar today:
A (possible) conspiracy
A rapidly spreading virus caused a yeast shortage that prompted an obsession with homegrown sourdough starters.
Which inspires an intriguing question: Are the microbes … in cahoots?!
A few hours ago, my bestie told me she has named her new starter “Sally.” I’m monitoring the situation closely.

I’m off to pour myself a cocktail. The rest of the weekend? I might finally print those quaranzines. My favorite neighborhood store just reopened, so I have a destination in mind for my Saturday morning walk. And I’ll probably continue to loop the new Fiona Apple album; I hope the neighbors don’t mind.
Thanks for reading. I’d love to hear from you — hit reply or send a message through my website to tell me about your weekend plans, your pet microbes, or anything else that’s on your mind. You can also forward this to a friend or two and invite them to subscribe. If you missed a previous issue, all the archives are online.
Until next time,
Jessica
