Humans are Humans
When Jason Hehir was editing The Last Dance, a giant corkboard was key. He made one column for each episode and used color-coded cards to help him visualize and rearrange the story’s structure.
In reviewing Cal Newport’s new book, I learned that the journalist John McPhee did something similar, except he used plywood balanced between two sawhorses rather than corkboard. Humans are embodied creatures, and physical aids are helpful!
For the new Jonathan Haidt book, my review got a shout-out on his Substack! Very cool! His solution applies broadly: more socializing, less screens.
