The last year has been quite rough. I got myself in a butt load of debt because of bad habits from being stuck at home (2020 panorama yo!) and unforeseen expenses. I changed jobs three times, and was hospitalized twice due to my asthma and other chronic health conditions. I was exhausted. It’s been over a year since I took a proper vacation. Well, I took time off during the height of the pandemic but I couldn’t do anything or go anywhere other than sit in my home which, like most, was also my office at the time.
So when my lead link suggested I go on a two week vacation after only two months tenure at the company, I was surprised but honestly relieved and excited. I had just been vaccinated (#PfizerLife) and my two week waiting period had passed. I was so excited to do…what exactly? I had looked forward to this moment of being vaccinated since it was in the news that vaccines were happening but now that I was, I didn’t really know what to do with my newfound freedom. First, I grabbed a nice cup of iced coffee from my local Starbucks like the basic white girl I am. Then, I sat down and decided what I wanted to do with my two weeks.
“Hey, I’ve wanted to draw more”, I said, so I picked up an iPad Air and borrowed my partner’s Apple Pencil ($200 for a stylus??) to do some drawings. I’ve enjoyed doing pixel art on my computer but couldn’t get the hang of Affinity Designer on the iPad (yet ;) )so I started doing isometric drawings in Procreate. I made a few pieces but after a few days, I got frustrated and eventually bored. I later learned that this was because , a principle from . Regardless, here’s a screenshot of what I drew over the course of a few days:
