2022 New Science One-Year Fellowship is live
Hi everyone,
We are extremely excited to make our biggest announcement so far–
New Science’s one-year fellowship is live!
Starting in September 2022, we will give fellows a 12-month core package that includes lab space in the brand new The Engine workspace, $100,000 in project costs, an $80,000 stipend (+additional stipend for fellows with dependents), and access to our network of scientists in and outside of Boston.
We think there is ample room for improvement to existing fellowship structures - instead of a one size fits all approach, we will offer customized support that leverages the unique talents of each individual fellow. We will work with every fellow to scope their project and determine the resources that would maximize their chance of success. For example, we’ll help you find a co-fellow to collaborate with, a technician for execution help, or enable outsourcing & automation.
Our program has a single goal: to provide maximal leverage to talented young scientists who are working on ambitious ideas in the basic life sciences.
We are open to projects from all areas of life sciences (including both wet and dry lab), and are very interested in supporting high-risk and pre-paradigmatic projects that wouldn’t be funded elsewhere. The first round of applications will close on May 1, 2022. Apply by filling out this form.
For us, this fellowship is an early step on the mission towards a complete overhaul of the institutions of science and a future in which scientists have the freedom and resources to fully realize their ideas, no matter where they are in their careers. You can read more about our broader vision here or in a recent profile of us in The Atlantic.
All the details are accessible on the fellowship page here. Please help us share the word and feel free to reply with any questions! We are really looking forward to the creative and ambitious fellowship project ideas and can’t wait for the fall :)
