This Week in Coffee; Tuesday 4th of July '23
Happy Traitor's Day "Y'all" and may I congratulate The French on their hard-won victory in the New World.
Every Fourth of July I cast my mind back to the time I spent working in the US, where I learned the true meaning of freedom.
Uncle Sam is the great intellectual benefactor for our age - a sulking uncle hammering away in his mind-garage, only to emerge with yet another brilliant mechanism.
Atop this generous cornucopia, one juicy peach stands out - the "darty". Half party, half day - on the fourth of July 2013 this drunk chimera looked me in the eyes and took me firmly by the hand then pulled me stumbling into the back of a D.C. police officer's patrol car.
After that cruel beast had placed its cold shiny shackles of degeneracy onto my young wrists, she abandoned me - never to be seen again but always in my heart.
Happy Fourth of July to all my American subscribers.
And now, the news.
Equipment
The Gaggia Classic was already a Tier 1 buy for anyone starting home espresso and this Evo upgrade is going to further secure that place.
There's a handful of reasonable technical upgrades but espresso manufacturers have long ignored the partners and house-mates of espresso lovers. The visual upgrades are extremely welcome and we hope to see more of this in the industry.
