Weekly Recommendation: Psychologeek
Hey there!
Here's your weekly German media recommendation from Monoglot Anxiety. This time, it's the YouTube channel Psychologeek.
Psychologeek
Psychologeek is a psychology YouTube channel produced by Psycologist Pia Kabitzsch. The concept of the channel is less about going through a psychology textbook than it is applying concepts from psychology to modern social trends and events, and the videos are definitely written with laypeople in mind. Don't be intimidated by the subject matter, either---many German scientific and medical words are similar to English ones, so getting into this more technical subject won't be as tough as you might imagine. Kabitzsch's videos often debunk popular psychology myths and are always well-researched, with sources linked in the description. New videos come out every Wednesday.
Check out the channel on YouTube, or start with Psychologeek's video on the link between psychopathy and crime.
Just one of many great channels supported by Funk
Psychologeek is just one of the many great YouTube channels supported by Funk, a collaboration of the German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF. Because the creators behind channels like Psychologeek are supported by Funk, their content is always advertisement free. And the high production value of these shows usually also means that they have good German subtitles that weren't written by robots, which is a great help for learners.
That's all for this week. Until next Friday,
Elise from Monoglot Anxiety
