Things I did this week:
* JAMstack Boston -- seems like static sites are once again gaining
some popularity. https://www.meetup.com/JAMstack-Boston/ and
https://www.staticgen.com/ -- People spoke about Hugo, Gatsby and
Sphinx. Elliot, Billy and I did a lot of work around this during our
time at Creative Commons, and I'm curious to see how it has progressed.
* Live coding in Glitch -- this is a lot of fun, and it really seems
like Glitch is a great tool for pair programming. I'm going to try
and use it a little for writing Orang-U 2/3 -- but yeah, watch this
livestream recording: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1mwp1tqmc8
* React continues to have a problematic license. VueJS seems to be a
good alternative without the problematic license terms. The TL;DR
here is that Facebook reserves the right to remove your ability to
use React if engaged in legal battles with them. I'm not a lawyer,
but that's not how other free software projects handle things, and
the Apache Software Foundation is right to call them out on this.
What else is going on:
* Help fund a monkey movie: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/orang-u-2-monkey-business-and-orang-u-3-movies#/
* Be in a monkey movie: https://www.backstage.com/casting/orang-u-2-monkey-business-180150/
Until next time,
matt
