Let's Stay In and Make Comics
Hi all, Scott here with a very quick update to let you know what's up with the meetups in this rapidly-evolving coronavirus era. I hope you're all well and warm and provisioned for the upcoming weeks.
Radstorm's response to all of this is still evolving; it's a space with a lot of folks coming and going and one that tries to be available to the most vulnerable in the city. So, any events held there for the next little while will require more preparation, cleaning and so on, and of course depending on recommendations from public health authorities, people may be less and less inclined to do in person meetups for a bit anyway.
I feel that I should adopt the same approach of being very cautious, especially when it comes to the health of others, so I have already cancelled the meetup that was planned for tomorrow and postponed the fundraiser that was planned for next weekend. I'll hold off on cancelling or postponing the April meetup and we'll see how things develop.
In the meantime, I think I will look at doing some online meetups, through Twitch or some other service - feel free to suggest one if you've had good experiences with it.
I would also like to use the group's website and social media accounts to promote the work of our members and any local artists who find themselves up against it in the coming weeks. If you have a website or store or something and you'd like it listed on our site and/or promoted on our Instagram and Twitter, let me know.
And if you are looking for people who need your support apart from those selfsame artists, remember you can always donate to Radstorm itself or donate food to the People's Fridge! They'll be needing TP and feminine products as well, and of course they are always looking for volunteers for various things.
That's all I can think of for now. Again, sorry for the short notice, and again, I hope you come out of the spring in good health with a fistful of finished pages.
Peace,
Scott M.
