We're moving (again)!
Hey there! I’m switching newsletter providers so this mini issue will be a bit briefer than what you’d expect. We’ll be back to the regular format of things next month, and you may get a notification you’ve been added to my email list when I export this list.
Buttondown is supposed to be an easy email newsletter solution, but I’ve found it cumbersome. The formatting takes time, the scheduling is inefficient (last month, one of the newsletter I’d written ahead got sent out early), and I always kind of resent newsletter days because of the software.
Yes, Substack was easier. But I don’t want to go back to Substack. They’re not very transparent, they give resources and platforms to anti-trans folks. I’m really not sure where the company is going from here, and as easy as it is, I don’t feel aligned with them.
I also want the freedom to shape how my list grows and what kind of content I create, something the Substack model doesn't allow.
So I’m going back to Mailchimp. Which is complicated as it's more robust than I actually need. But somewhat familiar; I’ve managed other newsletter there. It’s scalable, it’s been around for a long time, and however my writing grows from here, I trust that Mailchimp will let this space grow, too.
See you on the flip side?
