The view from L'encre d'olive last week (25-31 Jan 2021)
- I started l'encre d'olive. There's a lot I want to achieve in the next ten years, so I'm starting by creating a space to 'work in the open'. I'm embarking on a fantastic journey, involving trying lots of different things, and no doubt failing with them too. I know I'll need help. I won't be able to do this on my own. So, unless potential fairy godmothers can find me, they won't be able to assist!
I'm using Notion as a platform and haven't done anything fancy with it yet. I love Notion. I REALLY love Notion. I've used it for a few years now and it's grown into an essential tool for managing almost every aspect of my life. (Who am I kidding, there's no almost here.) When I say I've done nothing fancy with it yet I mean that I haven't wrapped it in anything, there's no domain re-pointing (yet); it's just a bare-bones, common or garden variety of Notion that I have made publicly viewable. Of course, though, I've created databases and views - so you could call it a little fancy at least.

I experimented with orange lentils and made pizza bases!
-
I didn't get around to making actual pizza.

Binge watching: Timeless (Netflix). Fantastic viewing for a 49 year-old and a Doctor Who obsessed 9 year-old, alike.
-
I bumped down my Netflix charge before the hike by taking the number of devices I can watch on down to one (saving £4pm, £48pa).

I joined Ness Labs. It costs $5 a month and I was tempted in by the promise to hook me up with someone for a virtual coffee and chat. This hasn't happened yet, but I did use a co-working session to do 4 pomodoros worth of sorting the under-sink cupboard in the kitchen (including de-mousing and mouse-proofing it). Much to the amusement of my co-workers who were working on more traditional keyboard-based things!
-
I focused with FocusMate. Off the back of joining Ness Labs and cleaning out my cupboard on the Saturday, I found FocusMate and used all three of my free 121 50 minute sessions to tackle my living-room-is-the-box-room situation. More on that another day.
