Just a short update to plug a few things. As I’ve mentioned in the last few newsletters, I’ve been obsessed with the simple video game-making tool Bitsy. I wrote about Bitsy for WIRED, and made a quick game in about two hours to learn the ropes.
The Dungeon Crawl Classics role playing game zine Gong Farmer’s Almanac 2019 edition is out. I edited three pieces: “Baba Jedza,” in volume 8, “The Digit Demon,” in volume 10, and “The Head of Aharise,” in volume 10. Looks like you need to make an account with either Lulu or DrivethruRPG to download this. The content is mostly meant for use with Dungeon Crawl Classics but you could adapt it for use with other games.
I’m continuing to document the history of the Amateur Creator’s Union. Most recently I looked back at the ACU’s announcement in Wizard magazine in 1993 along with with some examples of art by ACU members that appeared in Wizard, and took a look at ACU founder Shane Harper’s “King Vamp” imprint.
Apart from all that I’ve been getting ready for my annual 10k race over the Astoria bridge. To that end, I climbed Saddle Mountain last Saturday. It was a short but difficult hike–1,900 foot elevation gain over just a couple of miles. But it was well worth it. Pics here.
