PLEASE NOTE: Your registration is not final until payment is received. Payments must be given to staff at the library before the course begins. Payments will NOT be accepted when arriving at the course.
Fall Crochet Course
Wednesdays: September 5th, October 3rd, November 7th, and December 5th from 6:30pm-8:30pm
This course will explore how to vary patterns for size, yarn types, hook size, color, etc. as well as designing patterns from scratch. Participants will design, complete, and write instructions for 3 items (scarf, household item, toy, decorations, etc.) Suggestions for designing clothing will be minimal. Participants must already know basic crochet stitches.
Learning how to use Microsoft Excel
Monday September 17th from 5:30pm-6:30pm | Cost: $10
Have you ever been asked if you know how to use Excel? Many jobs and workplaces need and use Excel and numbers can be put into Excel and translated into information and insights. Even for personal use, Excel can be useful for tracking things in your life. Join us and learn how to bend data to your will with Microsoft Excel 2016.
Suggested: Bring your computer to get a hands-on experience (not required)
Learning how to use Gmail
Monday September 24th from 5:30pm-6:30pm | Cost: $10
Gmail is the free email service by Google and is both easy to use for new users and powerful enough to accommodate experienced users. Gmail can do a lot to help you control the amount of email you get. Join us and learn how to bend email to your will.
Prerequisite: Must have a Gmail account (not required to bring device but recommended)
Learning how to use Windows 10
Monday October 22nd from 5:30pm-6:30pm | Cost: $10
Many new computers come with Windows 10 and many services are now not compatible with Windows XP. This is a great course to learn the basics for using Windows 10, which can be beneficial for first-time set-up and users who have had a computer.
Prerequisite: Must have a Windows 10 computer (not required to bring device but recommended)
Learning how to use Libby
Monday October 29th from 5:30pm-6:30pm | Cost: $10
Libby is the New App from OverDrive that gives you thousands of free eBooks. Libby is a new and fresh way to get books. Many aspects of the app are streamlined and easier than the original OverDrive app. Learn how to use this app and download eBooks instantly.
Prerequisite: Must have and bring a device compatible with Libby (works with Apple and Android devices and tablets).
Learning how to use an iPad
Monday November 19th from 5:30pm-6:30pm | Cost: $10
An iPad is a tablet made by Apple and can almost substitute for a computer. There are many things you can swipe, tap, and consume while using an iPad. Learn the basics and a few additional features to protect your battery from running low and your privacy from being violated.
Prerequisite: Must have and bring an iPad
Learning how to use SPARK
Monday November 26th from 5:30pm-6:30pm | Cost: $10
SPARK is the digital version of what was the card catalog. Our library uses it to let you search for books, check out materials, and much more. Join us to learn how to search and use our system to find exactly what you want.
Prerequisite: None
We are always looking for course leaders that wish to engage enthusiastic learners with creative classes. Participants of previous courses have expressed their desire to have courses on basic computer use, Photoshop, foreign language conversational skills, and more. Stop in or call 717-436-6378 to sign up to lead a course.
