For the entire month of February I felt like I was riding an emotional pendulum – the contrast between life’s highs and lows was especially stark.
One day we’re attending a Minnie Mouse themed birthday party for our friends’ two year old, the next we’re visiting an exhausted friend battling cancer. One day we’re talking three hours with close friends and their newborn outside of a coffee shop on a slow weekend in perfect California weather, the next I’m hearing from a friend that they’ve were racially profiled at work and lost their source of income.
But through it all I’m so, so grateful for the friends I have around me. Hug a friend today (but only if they like that).
I have three interviews completed – two are recorded still needing transcription, one is fully transcribed but waiting on photos (which I should complete in the next couple of weeks).
Nidhi and I just completed another interview and photoshoot today, and here’s a sneak peak of one of our next couples: Joshue and Jami.
We’re on pace for publishing 2–3 interviews in March, and on pace for my target of 12 interviews completed by August (which will be one year since starting).
My plan is to take all the interviews and photos from the year and launch a print magazine on Kickstarter. I’ll be sharing work in progress magazine layouts with all of you next month.
This month’s playlist might be my favorite playlist so far with one of my favorite songs of the past year: “24/7” by Electric Guest. And I highly recommend the full albums of two artists featured (Bren Joy’s “Twenties” and and Electric Guest’s “KIN”).
