We're a family of 4 now!
Hi everyone,
On Saturday, July 11, Andrew James Steele was born! (That's a pic of me holding him in the hospital.) On July 20, our daughter Eva turned two. So, we've got our hands full at the Steele household! Thankfully, Andrew is a pretty chill newborn and Eva loves being a big sister.
Useful tools & resources
- I mentioned it last time, but The AND Campaign is out with a new book, Compassion (&) Conviction, and I really wish that every Christian in the USA would turn off FOX, MSNBC, CNN, etc. and read. this. book. It's that important.
- If you're looking for a summary of the book's contents, I wrote a pretty thorough review of Compassion (&) Conviction over at Anglican Compass.
- I'm growing increasingly concerned about media bias in our news sources and how it feels like we're living in separate worlds on the right and left. To that end, I recommend the media bias charts available from Ad Fontes and AllSides. Mind your media! Let's turn off the propaganda and indoctrination on both the far-right and the far-left.
- I also highly recommend The Economist as a news source. I've been blown away by the level of detail and nuance in their reporting and I plan to continue my paid subscription.
- I'm also a paid subscriber to Christianity Today and Comment Magazine. Check out their work.
Projects & Questions
- Unless I get a clear sign from the Lord that I should quit my Ph.D (which I pray for regularly, if I'm honest), I'm planning to prioritize my dissertation for the next year before transitioning to full-time employment at Anglican Compass next summer/fall.
- So, I would appreciate your prayers for clarity and a breakthrough on my dissertation, as well as your support for Anglican Compass!
- On the dissertation front, I'm wondering what the best way is to tie-together a close reading of Barth and Bonhoeffer's exegesis of Genesis 1-3 and Matthew 5-7.
- On the Anglican Compass front, I'm wondering how to continue to grow the website and make it financially sustainable while still saving time & energy for academic research & writing.
That's all for now! I pray that you and yours are doing well! Now go read Compassion (&) Conviction!
