Back in action! I'm resurrecting my newsletter
Hi everyone!
It’s been over a year since my last newsletter, but, in an effort to distance myself from the mind-numbing cesspool of vice that is social media, I’m bringing back my email newsletter!
I hate a crowded inbox as much as anyone I know, so I won’t bug you very often!
This is pretty informal, but I plan to go back to my three-part structure:
- Useful tools and resources
- Questions I’m pondering
- Projects I’m working on
Let’s dive in!
Useful tools & resources
- The AND Campaign is the only thing that’s keeping me from completely losing hope in the relationship between USA politics and the church.
- They’re out with a new book, Compassion & Conviction, and I highly recommend that you read it—especially if you’re frustrated by the current state of politics on the Right and the Left!
- I use Todoist for managing personal tasks and Asana for work tasks. I’ve finally found a tool that can tie these task managers together, syncing my Asana tasks to my Todoist account so all my tasks are in one place! It’s called Pleexy and you should check it out!
Questions I’m pondering
- What opportunities should the church be taking advantage of in 2020?
- What’s the best way for the church to provide catechesis, discipleship, and theological education going forward?
- What does the church need to learn from the Sermon on the Mount right now?
- How can I make Anglican Compass financially sustainable?
- How can I finish my Ph.D. dissertation in the next 3 years without losing my sanity?
Projects I’m working on
- Getting ready for baby #2 (Andrew James Steele) to arrive any day!
- Running Anglican Compass.
- Revisiting my dissertation to see if there’s a better concept (other than “the theological critique of religion”) that unites Barth’s and Bonhoeffer’s work on Genesis 1–3 and the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5–7)
OK, that’s enough for now! Feel free to reply with any questions, comments, or concerns.
Grace and peace,
~ Josh
