Hello everyone,
So I wanted to send out an update to the Indie Author community before March ends, as I know it's been a while since you heard from me.
In my last email back in November, I shared that I had pushed back back the date to February.
As we entered 2021, the first quarter of this year has been a busy one. Sometime in the last year or so, I decided to take 'the plunge' and double-down on doing 'my own thing'. For me, that 'own thing' has been in the form of INF Club, a blog which evolved into a 'business' about a year ago when I opened up a membership option.
What started out has a blog, has become a weekly newsletter (with a mixture of articles and podcast episodes), plus online events and a membership community.
In the last 3 months, I have been hosting live events, producing my regular newsletter content, and I've also just launched my first paid programme.
It's all exciting stuff, but I have had to be OK with - again - putting The Indie Author book on hold. As anyone 'doing their own thing' will know, aside from the doing the work itself, this whole adventure comes with a lot of "stuff", and I've just not had the space to give the book the attention it deserves.
This weekend, I finish getting the group programme off the ground, and so April will be a month that's a bit more 'business As usual', and one where I can finally get back to the book.
My hope is to be able to release it sometime in May. My birthday is in early June, and I would love for it to be finished before then.
As I write this, it's been almost exactly a year since the UK went into the first lockdown last year, and we are now slowly moving out of anther one.
Lots may have happened this last year but, amongst the chaos, some things have come into focus for me. One of those things being, that I have realised just how closely aligned the 'INF community' and 'writing community' are; it turns out, there are lots of INFP, INFJ, or otherwise [iNtuitive] writers.
And as I approach the final straight with this book, I've also been recently thinking about the 'why' behind this whole project, which starting out as a blog before I decided to produce a book. And here's what I've realised...
I am really passionate about self-expression through our writing, putting it 'out there', and making an income in the process.
Both of these elements - creating our art and marketing our art - are big, important pieces of the puzzle.
And the contributors who have taken part in this project have been generous enough to share their honest experiences and insights on both.
I cannot wait to share them with you all.
Until next time,
Jas
