New for 5/19: Clerk video, my new role, blog posts and more!
Hey there, 👋
It's been an extremely busy week, so busy in fact I forgot to send a newsletter last week!
- I covered Clerk, a new entry in the Jamstack user management space.
- I wrote a 3 blog posts, one on treating debugging as a murder mystery, Create content to solidify your knowledge and finally how to retrieve your last 10 YouTube Videos
- I announced my new role at TinaCMS as a developer advocate.
Let's get into the content for the week!
Lets Look at Clerk
In this video I covered the basics of Clerk:
- What is Clerk
- The dashboard
- One-click deployment to Vercel.
- Features
This is one of my favorite tools for user management and look forward to covering more in the future.
Retrieve your last 10 YouTube Videos
https://jamesperkins.dev/post/Retrieve-your-last-10-youtube-videosI wrote an indepth blog post on how to retrieve the lastest 10 videos from your channel, in fact this powers most of my YouTube page on my site!
I go over everything from where to signup for the API, how to use the API and where to find the sneaky stuff YouTube hides in plain sight.
Create content to solidify your knowledge
Create content to solidify your knowledge
Creating content on something you just learned such as a youtube video or a blog post is another way to solidify your knowledge.
I decided to write a quick post about how I use creating content to solidfy my knowledge. This blog post is more just about my own thoughts so feel free to use it as with a grain of salt.
I treat debugging as a murder mystery
I treat debugging as a murder mystery
I have spent so much of my career debugging code, whether its Production code in a large scale enterprise applications or in my own personal code.
Debugging is a mystery for a lot of people, it can be hard and annoying and frustrating. I've always enjoyed debugging, in fact I used to work at a company where I would just have people send me stuff they were debugging to give them guidance.
This post I wrote my steps to treating debugging as murder mystery.
What have I been consuming this week?
📺 What I'm Watching.
This past two weeks I have watched so much, mostly due to working on a lot of projects that don't need me head down in the weeds. Here is my top pick of the week!
The Sons of Sam documentary
Watch The Sons of Sam: A Descent into Darkness | Netflix Official Site
The Son of Sam case grew into a lifelong obsession for journalist Maury Terry, who became convinced that the murders were linked to a satanic cult.
I love True Crime, so this documentary mini series was absolutely down my alley, I just finished and I would happily watch this again.
🎵 What am I listening to?
I am working on Powerlifting again sooo that usually means I have a heavy rotation of metal music.
- Linkin Park
- Shinedown
- Avenge Sevenfold
Have been in heavy rotation, I have a single song I use for deadlifts "Crawling by Linkin Park". I just hit 225 for 5x5 and that was the only song played.
Well, that's the end of this Newsletter! See ya next week
