Practice Series update
"I found the reason why I self sabotage myself and my relationships for so many years. Just to switch the perspective was absolutely powerful and eye-opening."
I felt meaningful satisfaction seeing that in the feedback box after our session #2 on Parts Work last Sunday. That's the power of perspective shifts! 🧨 And of bringing a "no bad parts" frame of compassion toward our protective patterns.
Here are some other takeaways posted this time: (will we keep doing the sticky-note thing? will I keep sharing it here? no promises, just trying it out)
For those who want to learn more about IFS, I've been referred to the video content of Dr. Tori Olds which looks like a very friendly way to get a much deeper explanation of the model. As for guided practice, I haven't committed to producing an audio release of
This week, session #3 is titled "Mind the Gap" (referencing the Interpersonal Gap) and features playful exercises aimed at seeing more clearly, in any interaction, the space/difference between our internal world-experiences. Becoming more aware of the constant simulations we're running (in our heads, of other people) can help us avoid so much confusion and projection!
Members update
There's a member meeting this Saturday, and I mention it here only to note that members-only stuff won't appear on the "open events" lists in this newsletter.
Are you interested in membership and don't already have Saturday's meeting invite on your calendar? Prospective members attend a new member orientation first, no obligation attached. Veteran members from the seasonal-membership-model years merely need to fill out the form in your inbox. (Let me know if you need another.)
Membership exists primarily-at-the-moment in support of self-organized learning (practice or topic crews), thriving (support pods), and acting (impact squads). It's a space where we can find the others, build trust and relationships, and also be a part of something bigger.
