Hyperlink updates and mobile app — theory and PWAxis ;)
Hey! A few things for you from Hyperlink—
(…we say, pulling back the curtain as we make an app for learning and creative work, a collaborative enabling environment, an intimate playspace for projects, a friendly campus for cohorts…)
One, what's new in Hyperlink
We're seeing some very cool Spaces — visual storyboards, shared to do lists, collaborative workshops and more.
An increasing number of folks are returning, making multiple Spaces, and using for serious creative work! Special shoutout to Jake and JT, with projects ranging from games to websites to zines :)
We've made some nice improvements to the app over the past ~month:
- refactored layout, with new sidebar, 'add card' button, and…
- all new global search! super fast to find + create cards, including keyboard shortcuts
- better notifications — the app works quite nicely on mobile, and even supports push notifications when you install the PWA!
Which brings us to…
Two, a post about progressive web apps
We wrote up an inside look at our experience building Hyperlink as a progressive web app, or PWA.
This is the sort of post that you'll find either excessively inside baseball, or extremely cool:
The TL;DR is that it's recently become possible to make websites behave more like native apps, and we're proud of how we've made Hyperlink work seamlessly on mobile.
Three, give the mobile app a try!
We find Hyperlink on mobile particularly useful both for quickly capturing ideas, catching up / commenting on recently added cards, and continuing discussions with collaborators.
To try it — visit https://hyperlink.academy/ on a mobile browser, 'add to homescreen' from the share menu, then log in and enable notifications.
We'd love to hear what you think!
What's your ONE top request to make Hyperlink more useful & fun?
Hit reply if you give the app a try & have any questions or suggestions! Standing by to fix bugs and explore new Spaces :)
