I’m very excited to share that Research Practice is now available everywhere. You can now order the book from independent, academic, large chain, and other bookstores the world over. I heard from a number of people who either wanted to avoid shopping with Amazon entirely, or didn’t even have the option of shopping with Amazon due to their location; it took two months longer than I anticipated, but problem solved.

Updates

These newsletters fell by the wayside for the last couple of months. A few reasons why:

• I kept waiting for the book to become available everywhere. This took so much longer than I anticipated. Self-publishing giveth and self-publishing taketh (time) away. For the three of you who are interested, my next newsletter will document my self-publishing process.
• I joined Webflow as lead user researcher at the end of January! I hadn’t planned on starting a new role while launching a book amidst a failed insurrection during a pandemic, but here we are. I joined Webflow to work with a very thoughtful group of colleagues in an exciting space (no-code websites). And yes, my mandate is to build a research practice. Hope I can find a good resource on this topic.

This Friday, 26 March, I’m looking forward to joining UX Copenhagen for a round table discussion about user research.

On 2 May, I’m anticipating a career highlight when I speak at UX Fest, followed by a Q&A with none other than Andy Budd.

I joined my friend and fellow researcher Matt Arnold on his Iowa Idea podcast. You should check out his previous episodes—he’s interviewed some fascinating people in a diversity of fields (not just research!).

I was part of a panel discussion about my book for IxDA NYC, and considering that due to a storm I had no video, couldn’t present my slides, and had to dial in by phone, it went about as well as could be thanks to amazing panelists Nicole Fenton, Lindsay Ferris, and Snigdha Diehl.

The good folks at Cousto invited me to give a webinar about finding information within your organization.

And I was happy to join the UX Denver Book Club and UX San Antonio to talk about research, my book, and whatever else came up.
