👹 more mundane madness — β8
a great deal of fuss or attention given to a minor matter
a weekly zine featuring the monday media guide and the weekend edition
your friendly neighborhood digital media conglomerate published by The Independent Variable.
Welcome back to another mundane issue of foofaraw.
There are probably only two or three things that look like they will be Grade A new releases this week, but there's still some fun stuff to at least check out if you are in need of filling up your media diet for the week. Continue at your own peril.
In more exciting news, I finally convinced Garrett Elton of the Anti-Social Media Club newsletter to join foofaraw and work with me on something. We've gone back and fourth talking about design and comics for awhile now. He is going to be leading a new collaboration that will be published through foofaraw—I don't want to spoil too much yet, but keep your eyes peeled to the stars for more to come. Very soon.
I'm still looking for a few more collaborators to add to the roster so drop a line if you have some ideas you'd be interested in working on with foofaraw.
what's on tv this week
Two new shows this week with the return of Slow Horses and then the series premiere of Bookie on HBO. Bookie basically looks like Ballers meets Curb Your Enthusiasm with some sitcom humor thrown in. Shining Vale also wraps it's second season this Friday.
Slow Horses S3 (Apple) — 28 November
This was one of the most exciting shows of last year, releasing two seasons within the year! I personally skipped the trailer because I know I'm going to enjoy going on a ride with Gary Oldman as a spy no matter what.
Bookie S1 (HBO) — 30 November
Yeah... as I mentioned this has some Ballers meets Curb vibes from the trailer, at least, and while I'm not personally a fan of Sebastian Maniscalco, I still want to give this a shot since it is HBO after all.

this past Friday's best album releases
So... no release of the week because I didn't love anything... There are still a couple albums that might be worth checking out depending on your mood and tastes.
Bits and Bobs
Slice (EP) — O.
This 18 minute EP of funky instrumental rock jams is probably the best thing of the week and if you stop listening after this, or the next, I wouldn't blame you.
Summer's for Lovers (EP) — Glades
Tristan (EP) — Birdmask
shutting me out / goo lagoon (EP) — EKKSTACY
Some Stuff for the Pile

movies hitting the big screen this week
Godzilla Minus One
Consider me all in on Godzilla right now. The guy behind the VFX of Shin Godzilla (which I really need to get around to seeing...), Takashi Yamazaki, is writing, directing, and doing the VFX for this one.
Reviews don't seem to be great for John Woo's first film in six years, but the trailer still has me pretty excited.
I didn't get around to finishing the Dec/Jan issue of nonsense. but I will make sure that's wrapped up before I take a break from the newsletter during the holiday season.
Hope you enjoyed the mini-holiday weekend (if you're in the US). I spent it drinking a bit too much wine in Napa so I feel like I'm going to need another vacation before I'll be productive at the day job...
