Well, the music releases this past Friday were pretty lackluster so I nixed that section entirely this week. No reason to tell you about music that's not exciting and I don't feel like wasting my time telling you about the Beatles single you've certainly already been inundated with...
There's still some pretty exciting stuff coming out this week in TV, Comics, and Movies so come along for the ride.
I caught up on Lessons in Chemistry this week and it's really, really good. Brie Larson is phenomenal in it and it moves quickly, grabbing your attention right away. The sixth episode of eight is out Friday on Apple so it's a perfect time to catch up if you had been hesitating like me.
I was also recommended Bodies (Netflix) recently so figured I'd give it a quick shoutout. I mostly trust the person who recommended it so if you are looking for a sci-fi-ish mystery that you can binge, it sounds like it's worth checking out.
what's on tv this week
I feel like I've been featuring a lot of anime as of late, which honestly, isn't really in my wheel house, but there has been tons of fun looking stuff lately, so as long as that keeps happening, I'll keep featuring it...
I'm waaaay behind on this show, but the buzz around the last two seasons has been super high so I'm inclined to catch up soon.
This show was a lot of fun in season one and I'm glad it made it through the Max Reckoning for another season.
Suuuuper excited for this. I'm a fan of Fielder (Nathan for You, The Rehearsal, plus producing How To with John Wilson) so I'm excited to see his approach for something scripted alongside Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems) and Emma Stone.
I removed a few things from the schedule and was debating whether it's worth calling those out moving forward when something lacks the quality to be included... anyways Goosebumps and Lawmen: Bass Reeves have been removed...

This is aimed at younger readers, but looks super imaginative and beautiful so it feels like it's worth checking out.
Mitch (Scout) #1
Scout books can be super hard to find, I think I typically have to buy PDFs from their website, but this one looks like it could be worth the effort.

movies hitting the big screen this week
I mentioned in the November issue of nonsense. that I thought this had the potential to be this years Everything Everywhere All At Once and I still believe that could be true. It probably won't get the same attention at the Oscar's, but in terms of wild, creative energy, style, direction, and performance, I have super high expectations for this one.
Obligatory Marvel mention... Brie Larson is killing it on Lessons in Chemistry so if you are tired of Marvel, maybe go give that a shot. I'll eventually check this out, but it's not a top priority for me (will maybe wait for streaming).
And the previously mentioned David Fincher film makes it's way to Netflix this week.
That's it for this week. If you made it this far, I've been thinking about what to call the Friday editions of this newsletter. Right now I'm thinking something simple like [The Weekend Edition], but if you've got some better ideas, let me know. Also still looking for more contributors, so don't be shy...
