Hey there! It's been a minute. If you signed up while foofaraw was on break, you have my sincerest gratitude. If you're an older subscriber... you have only yourself to blame at this point.
I wanted to have a grand introduction for this first issue back, but my day job has been kicking my ass so I'll save that for next Monday.
In the meantime, True Detective is back with what appears to be a return to form as is Matt Fraction and Terry Dodson's Adventureman. Unfortunately, there weren't really any good music releases last Friday to touch on, but that should change this Friday and I'll be back next week to talk about them.
The Brothers Son (Netflix) came out while we were away and has been pretty fun. I'm only three episodes in, but I'd highly recommend it. It's a great blend of action and comedy with a tiny bit of drama, but it definitely doesn't take itself too seriously.
A few other things came out over the break, but they don't really matter.
New Shows
Criminal Record (Apple) — 9 Jan
First two episodes of this one drop tomorrow. Up in the air on this.
Echo (Disney) — 10 Jan
Full five episode season drops at once. I'm basically out on Marvel stuff at this point, but might at least try to pop this on when I have nothing else to watch.
Monsieur Spade (AMC) — 14 Jan
AMC tends to make some cool and interesting, moody stuff. Throw in Clive Owen you've got a pretty solid foundation.
True Detective S4 - Night Country (HBO) — 14 Jan
It's back and looks incredible. And I'm hearing some great things from early reviews too. Sounds like True Detective is back to it's S1 form.

No. 1s
Adventureman: Ghost Lights (Image) #1
I haven't actually read Adventureman, but I own all of the issues based on the track record of Matt Fraction and Terry Dodson so I'm going to try to catch up on those very soon.
Rise of the Powers of X (Marvel) #1
I believe this is where the new age of X-Men kicks off after the age of Krakoa that was set-up by Hickman many years ago.
Ultimate Spider-Man (Marvel) #1
The Ultimate universe is back I guess and now so is Ultimate Spider-Man from Jonathan Hickman and Marco Checchetto.
The Best
Seriously, all of these books are great and you should be reading them.

One one movie worth checking out this week as award season is officially underway already.
The Book of Clarence
This looks like it could actually be solid, which is a bit surprising for a non-limited release film this time of year. I also really dig LaKeith Stanfield and RJ Cyler (Rap Sh!t).
That's it. Thanks for sticking with me. Let me know if you think the new banners are too much throughout the issue and I'll try to do better next week.
Stay sane,
