Trying hard not to make a habit out of being late, but sometimes life gets in the way...
If you read this via RSS, apologies if you got hit with a bunch of posts last Friday. I was updating some of the formatting in the back catalog and I guess it pushed those out...
And as I mentioned at the end of last week's issue, the trailers are now external links instead of embeds. I've put these links behind the emojis for each category. If you hate that decision, let me know, but I think this makes for a cleaner experience.
Let's just get straight to this week's releases...
Tons of new TV shows this week, but only one I'm truly excited for. There is still a lot of potential across the spattering of shows premiering this week though.
New Shows
[📺] Feud: Capote vs the Swans (FX/Hulu) — 31 Jan
My wife is really excited for this although we didn't finish the first season. Truman Copote is such an intersting character of a person and Tom Hollander is a captivating performer. I know nothing about the Swans, but looking at IMDb, we get Naomi Watts, Calissta Flockhard, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, Demi Moore, and Molly Ringwald! Plus Chris Chalk as James Baldwin!
[📺] Mr. and Mrs. Smith S1 (Amazon) — 1 Feb
Pretty pessimistic about this one. I think Donald Glover is a visionary—between Atlanta and "Awaken, My Love!" he's created two of my favorite pieces of entertainment. Full stop. But this... I just don't know. Is this a retread we really need. I'm not signing up for Amazon again until The Boys is back so one of you will have to let me know if this is any good.
[📺] Genius: MLK/X (National Geographic/Hulu) — 1 Feb
I haven't watched any of the previous seasons of Genius, but have heard solid things so there seems no better place to start than one looking at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X.
📺 The Big Door Prize S2 (Apple) — 2 Feb
no trailer...?
Not in any hurry to watch this one. Season one was a show we kept in the backburner for when we didn't have anything else to watch. It kind of dissapointed me, but was enjoyable enough to keep around for the inevitable tv drought.
[📺] Curb Your Enthusiasm S12 (HBO) — 4 Feb
This is the big one for the week! The return of Larry David for the final season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Not much more to say on this front. My wife always says I'm a combination of Larry David and Marc Maron. Don't really think that's a compliment, but it's a comparison I don't mind.

Release of the Week
[💽] The Pilgrim, Their God and the King of My Decrepit Mountain — Tapir!
The perfect album for the beautiful sunny 70º winter weather I just had in Napa this past Sunday morning.
It's a bit outside the norm for what I typically pick given it's lean into a folksy sound, but it's still delightful.
Other Releases
[💽] Three Bells — Ty Segall
This album makes me feel like I'm being escorted out of a dungeon to my death for some reason.
[💽] New Last Name — Courting
A mishmash of so many different sounds throughout this record. I get hints of OAR, All Time Low, The Killers, Hellogoodbye, Set Your Goals, and Arctic Monkeys
[💽] Wall of Eyes — The Smile
[💽] Spiel — Office Dog
[💽] People Who Aren't There Anymore — Future Islands
Only one decent looking #1 issue this week and I'm honestly not even sure if I'll pick it up. w0rldtr33 continues to be an amazing book for those who can stomach it. The rest of the week is a bit middling. Nothing to really write home about.

This isn't a great time for movies, obviously, but at least this one has quite the cast. And Matthew Vaughn knows how to direct a fun film. He definitely seems to have found an aesthetic between this and the last few The King's Man flicks. This basically feels like a blend between the The King's Man and Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum's The Lost City.
Well, given the time crunch and delay, I admit, this wasn't my best issue. Stick around for a killer album review from Will this Friday though...
