Issue 2135
Happy Monday!
This week has been very busy with work and the weather here in England is full on autumnal already. While I am sad that summer was so short, I don’t mind the fall season. I like wearing hoodies and warm seasonal beverages. The thing I hate is that winter is lurking around the corner.
Here are some random thoughts:
- Usually once or twice the week, I’ll grab a quick and easy lunch from whichever grocery store is closest to me, they all have a drink + side + main = £3.00 situation going on. This week, I had an unusual situation wherein I thought I’d picked from the appropriate sections so I was a bit surprised when my total was double the usual so I asked for some help and it came down to my drink not actually being eligible for the meal. It made me think of how so many companies pull this kind of sneak attack and how it impacts customer experience. I went back to pick another drink and took a good look and essentially, it is definitely set up to look as though it’s part of the deal. So now I look at this particular chain a lot differently and I don’t want to go back. I wish companies would stop doing this. Maybe it gets some extra cash here and there but it really destroys trust in a brand which impacts long term customer retention.
- I really liked this week’s episode of iWeigh with Jamila Jamil. She had Dr. Joshua Wilrich (an NHS physician) as a guest and they talked the toxicity of diet culture and how dangerous some of these fad diets (celery water got some heat). Definitely worth a listen.
- Book Club Memo: I want to meet the week starting Sept 27, so if you are planning to participate can you please respond to this email with a day of the week and time that works best for you?
Thanks so much!
Mandy
