DKB #2 - Interview with Neeva Search, and a crazy new project ðŸ¤
Hello friends,
Last week I published an interview with Neeva, and this week I'm launching a new writing project that you may find interesting.
Neeva Interview
Neeva is one of the most promising new search engines out there, giving you the ability to search across all of your personal files (dropbox, notion, gmail, etc.) in addition to the web. One thing that's especially cool is the Neeva iOS app, which gives you instant results, getting you where you want to go without taking you to a search results page.
And that's just a small subset of all the things that Neeva does differently.
I had the opportunity to chat with the founders of Neeva, and we had a great discussion.
With Neeva, we started with a simple principle – put the user first. We wanted to put you back in charge of the search experience. And the philosophies that we bring into play at one level are around changing the ranking algorithm.
This has to be done carefully because one of the most prized qualities for a search engine is that it is neutral. It is not editorialized by a small set of people. The aspiration is to be the objective truth. In practice, you realize that there are always loopholes and people that are trying to game the system. And so you have to evolve. It's a living system, but the aspiration is to always be the objective truth.
You can read the full interview here.
The Crazy New Project
If you could bring one person back from the dead for a conversation, who would it be?
This new project aims to bring that fantasy to life.
I'm creating realistic interviews with historical figures based on things they've written. There's a lot of important knowledge in older books, but those books are usually difficult to read.
The goal of this project is to transform those books into an interview format, which will make this knowledge more accessible for everyone.
You can check out the first interview with Roman emperor and Stoic philosopher, Marcus Aurelius.
We should accept nature’s plan, even if it doesn’t feel great in the moment, because we can trust that it will lead to the well-being of all of humanity and the universe.
There's a separate mailing list for that project that you can sign up for if it sounds cool.
I am curious to hear your answer to the question though, who would you bring back from the dead for a conversation? Send me a reply and let me know!
