Cinema Memory and the Digital Archive: New blog

Communication History List

Dear Colleagues,

We invite you to take a look at the latest blog post on our website which sets out an overview of the questionnaire survey that provided vital data to the Cinema Culture in 1930s Britain project:

We invite you to also browse our website more generally (http://www.lancs.ac.uk/CMDA). It hosts a number of other blogs written by CMDA team members, as well as an ever-growing digital archive of materials that were initially gathered during the CCINTB project. These include: interviews with 1930s cinemagoers, letters, questionnaires, memorabilia, and more.

This archive has been organised into a database and features search functions that allow for flexible and intuitive access to the materials, which have not previously been catalogued and have only been available in physical form. The interviews are also internally searchable, having been transcribed and synchronised through the Oral History Metadata Synchronizer. As such, it is easy to search for a word or phrase within an interview and quickly jump to that timestamp in the audio.

If you would like any further information about the project, archive or website, please to contact us at cmda@lancaster.ac.uk

With best wishes,

Annette Kuhn
