Wow, what a week. If you’re in the Global North, then it’s hard to ignore what’s going on in Ukraine. If you’re anywhere else the latest IPCC report shared earlier this week makes for pretty stark reading. But it’s right now, it’s understandable if you don’t have the headspace for that as well. We’ll set a bit of time for that next week though, with some explainers, and other resources to make sense of it
In the meantime, if you’re looking at the new coming from Ukraine and want to do something, we’ve compiled a list of resources (https://climate-tech.slack.com/archives/C01A0THTQRW/p1645808383819189) , from places to donate to, to sample letters to send to your representative. These are likely to be very Eurocentric, so we’d welcome help, to share with CATs in your part of the world too. This week, we’re also repurposing the weekly coworking sessions, and CAT Coffee (https://climate-tech.slack.com/archives/C01A0THTQRW/p1645808383819189) to have space for spending some time working through these with other CATS.

Theyâre not birds, and approximately half arenât ladies. But ladybirds very much ARE beetles, and that alone is reason to celebrate them. Even if they do puke from their knee-joints. 140. Every Country Could Be Carbon Negative with Erika Mouynes (https://outrageandoptimism.libsyn.com/140-every-country-could-be-carbon-negative-with-erika-mouynes) âIt doesnât matter what your economy is. Itâs just a matter of deciding of protecting your areas and committing to it.â Last week it was reported that the worldâs governments are currently subsidizing our own destruction to the tune of $1.8 Trillion a yearâ¦yeah. Not good. What does it look like to turn these subsidies around to promote nature, clean energy, and equitable access to energy across continents? Maybe this week we have the answer, because in the midst of those irresponsible subsidies, this week we present a story of responsibility, political courage, and negativity! â¦The good kind.
COW POOP AND COMPOST: DIGESTING THE METHANE MENACE (https://www.climateone.org/audio/cow-poop-and-compost-digesting-methane-menace) Carbon dioxide isnât only greenhouse gas being emitted into the atmosphere thatâs damaging the climate. In a 20-year time frame, methane is actually 80 times more damaging to the climate than carbon dioxide. These emissions present a significant problem for policy makers and people alike. Over 100 countries, including the US, have signed the Global Methane Pledge. The goal is to reduce methane emissions 30% by 2030.
