Greetings, Friends!
I know it's been a minute since I've posted, but I've been locked in a battle with a
cross dimensional plague, and that's been consuming all my brain cycles for 4-5 days now. Rather than subject you to the ravings of my diseased self, I wanna suggest some other newsletters you should be reading if you aren't. All signs point to me vanquishing this attack in the next few days, so expect a more normal thing from me next week sometime. Until then, let these organisms keep you company and feed your brain:
- Technoccult - Run by the "So brilliant it makes me mad sometimes" Damien Patrick Williams, this newsletter is always worth digging into and contemplating for days after.
- Neurovagrant - Thoughts on technology, politics, the present via the lens of the future, and whatever else Ian Campbell feels like writing about.
- Mediapathic - Because I don't think I could describe any better than he already has, here's Steen's description "An aperiodic garble of possible sense, gilt with buzzwords and crowned in filth." Each one of these feels like falling down a wonderfully engaging rabbit hole.
- NEXTDRAFT - A bit more mainstream than these others; always an interesting mix of the news of the day. Even if I don't dig every story, there's one or two that stand out and give me something to think about. Also, sarcastic as hell.
- Disturbances - An exploration of dust in it's many facets as a way of seeing the world.
And finally a podcast recommendation,
Flash Forward. I'm sure a lot of you already knew about it, but I just discovered the show a few weeks ago via the host, Rose Eveleth, being at BDYHAXCON here in Austin. The conceit of the show is exploring a different possible future each week, including some produced dramatic pieces set in the potential future of the week. Really well done, each episode is less than 30 minutes.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but, just a sampling of rad people you should be paying attention to. Also, most of them have Patreons or some other way to throw them some money for all the awesomeness they provide, so, if you dig their stuff, maybe be cool and help them out?
And with that, it's time to return to searching for the Earth that has a cure for this blasted infection.
