Next reading group – unions and revolution
Hello again friends!
Week three of our workplace-oriented reading group will be on the general subject of unions and revolution: discussing what the potential is for unions as vehicles that can fight both in the here-and-now and for more general revolutionary goals.
The readings will be:
"Direct Action" by Émile Pouget (https://www.katesharpleylibrary.net/vhhngg)
"Anarchism and Syndicalism" by Errico Malatesta (https://theanarchistlibrary.org/library/errico-malatesta-anarchism-and-syndicalism)
An interview with Agustin Guillamon about the CNT's defence committees in Barcelona during the revolution & civil war (https://libcom.org/article/cnt-defense-committees-barcelona-1933-1938-interview-agustin-guillamon)
The first is optimistic, the second is pessimistic and the third gives some historical information regarding the most debated topic in this subject: the nature of the anarcho-syndicalist CNT during the Spanish revolution. All welcome – meet in the foyer of the Abercrombie building, 6:30PM on the 12th of October. For more info, see the FB event: https://fb.me/e/2NkUkV0Z8
