Interested in discussing workplace struggle & unions? Come to our upcoming reading groups!
Hey all,
Black Flag Sydney is starting a series of open reading groups focusing on unions and workplace activity. If you're keen to discuss some interesting articles, share experiences and learn along with us, come by! These will be held on a fortnightly schedule, every Wednesday evening – all welcome. This first one will be on Wednesday the 14th of September, 6:30PM at the Abercrombie Building of the University of Sydney Business School. Keep an eye on the Facebook event for the most up-to-date details.
This first week's topic will be an intro to some of the debates around workplace organising. The purpose is to discuss what significance workplaces have as a site of struggle in capitalism, what their link is with politics, and how revolutionaries should operate in this whole process.
We'll be discussing:
"The Rank-and-File Strategy", by Kim Moody (read “Introduction: The Problem”, and then section “Modern Business Unionism…” to the end)
"Workplace Struggles are Political", by Marianne Garneau
"When We Occupied the BAC Factory in 1974"
See you there!
