FlightAware Update and More
Hi everybody,
First, a big thanks to everybody who joined in during the balena IoT Happy Hour last Friday! Setting up a flight tracker live on YouTube felt like a challenge, but we made it. Viewer engagement through the chat made it all the more fun.
If you didn’t get to tune in live, you can watch the recording here: https://youtu.be/-8RgToapBoQ
FlightAware Update
Over the last week, FlightAware has released a shiny new edition of their tracker: Version 5. You might have seen some warnings about this already in your local dashboard, urging you to update. Don’t worry; you are covered! Just update your current installation of balena-ads-b, either using the Deploy with balena-button or by updating your local copy of the repository.
As part of the update, FlightAware has started migrating away from the old dump1090 interface. If you’re using http://localhost:8080 for monitoring local traffic will still work. If you use the http://balenaproxy/dump1090-fa/ method, you will notice that you’ll be redirected to http://balenaproxy/skyaware/ from now on.
Forum Thread
To better support you going forward, we now have a dedicated balena ADS-B thread in the official forums. If you are having issues, questions, or general input, this is the place to go. If you prefer, you can also rise issues directly in the repository.
Keep up the flight tracking, folks! See you next time!
