It (Facebook) holds a mirror up to society and people don’t like what they see. Then blame the mirror.
I’m more interested in the things I can’t easily quantify. Did I write something that resonated with people enough for them to write me an email? Did somebody take the time to share it on social media?
But unlike Slack or video conferencing, email lets you take a step back and actually consider your thoughts — an unusual advantage in these harried times. It is a space for artfulness and thoughtfulness, where it’s possible to stand out, to surprise people, to get attention.
